I was thinking about the best way to put this information forward in a blog. A lot of the time we like to go into depth of how, when, where, why, how much etc etc. However, The following post is more straight forward. Yes, you could go into the depths of it, but I wanted to simply get it out there. To the point, in your face. Physical activity works. I recently post about, 8 hours of inactivity being eliminated by 1 hour of activity! This basically a follow on, more confirmation, as if you should need any. So here we go.

Benefits of Physical Activity For Adults

As mentioned, I’m going to keep this simple. Physical activity can reduce your chances of the following:

  • Type II diabetes by 40%
  • Cardiovascular disease by 35%
  • Falls, depression & dementia by 30%
  • Joint & back pain by 25%
  • Cancer (colon & breast) 20%

How cool is that?!?

Benefits of Physical Activity For Children & Teenagers

Again, very simple. Physical activity can have the following effects:

  • Improved self confidence & social skills
  • Maintaining a healthy weight / body composition (especially during puberty)
  • Improved concentration & learning
  • Improved general health markers
  • Strengthens muscles & bones
  • Improves sleep

Again, how cool is that?!? And for Toddlers (0-5):

  • Improves sleep
  • Contributes to learning and brain development
  • Develops co-ordination and movement
  • Strengthens muscles & bones

Can Physical Activity Benefit Me if I’m Pregnant?

Yes. I think you’re probably getting the gist of how simple this is. Appropriate physical activity can benefit pregnancy in the following ways:

  • Improvements in sleep and mood
  • Helps to prevent diabetes of pregnancy
  • Can reduce high blood pressure
  • Helps maintain weight, body composition & general health markers throughout

Move More

Physical activity doesn’t mean you have to go to the gym and lift weights. Move more, this may be running and jumping, carrying and throwing. We are designed to move, so why not get out there and give it a go?
